Pledge to Net Zero – 2023/24 Carbon Footprint
27th February 2025 - Written by Alison Bateman
On 01 December 2024, Mabbett & Associates Limited (Mabbett) merged with IKM Consulting to establish Arthian Limited (Arthian). This merger causes a significant change in our operations, increasing our head count and offices.
Following this reporting period, Arthian will update our baseline year to the 2024-25 financial year (01 April 2024 to 31 March 2025) to include emissions for Arthian as a whole. Emission targets and data will be updated to account for these changes.
For 2023/24 the carbon footprint is reported for Mabbett’s operations only.
For Fiscal Year 2023/24 Mabbett’s carbon footprint was 322 tCO2e. This represents an overall increase in GHG emissions from our baseline figure of 112 tCO2e which is a result of opening new offices and strategic acquisitions, subsequently increasing the number of employees from 46 employees in 2019/20 to 79 in 2023/24. The increase in employees contributed to increased business travel and commuting & homeworking by our staff which were the largest contributors to the carbon footprint. The increase is also accounting of emissions from business travel based on spend data, as well as reporting additional Scope 3 categories of Fuel- and Energy-Related Activities and Homeworking. Our normalised intensity metric of tCO2e per employee, has increased by 68% compared to the baseline year – from 2.43 to 4.07 tCO2e per employee, while average employee number has increased 72%.
As part of the rebaselining of emissions for the next reporting period, Arthian plan to work towards data improvement methods, as the business travel emissions are currently calculated using spend-based data which also contributes to the increased emissions. Improving our data accuracy aims to support our emissions reduction targets.
