We are seeking to recruit an ESG (Environment, Social, Governance) Principal Consultant, ideally from a consultancy background to lead our ESG service growth (winning and delivering projects) for the UK and Ireland.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess an Honours or Masters Degree in sustainability, international business, business administration, accountancy, environmental management, or similar, and have a have a full U.K. (or equivalent) driving licence with clean driver record.  Professional chartership(s) (e.g. Society for the Environment, IEMA, CIPS etc.) would be viewed favourably.

Experience

You will be comfortable with proposal and tender writing, have a successful track record of winning and running contracts to agreed commercial arrangements, have a strong business network and be experienced with issue resolution and customer retention. You will have knowledge and experience of the topics within environment, social and governance, and have experience of managing/delivering ESG activities focusing on nonfinancial reporting, such as:

  • Application of GRI, TCFD, CSRD, corporate responsibility reports
  • Screening/Scoping ESG
  • Double materiality assessment
  • ESG Policy development
  • ESG Strategy development
  • Auditing
  • Bridging the gap between financial and non-financial reporting.
  • Addressing greenwashing claims (company performance, products/services)
  • Data analytics, including visuals (sustainability metrics/dashboards)
  • Board advisory services
  • ESG Communications including training delivery

This role is within the Sustainability Group. Other technical groups include Climate & Carbon, Energy Engineering Groups and Safety, bringing already established services relevant to ESG delivery.

The successful candidate will enjoy the challenge of developing the ESG service, be able to provide examples of ESG work completed, and will be able to convert opportunities from external and internal sources into projects.

You will work for the Sustainability Group Director in a collaborative environment. You will relish the business-environment challenge of finding opportunities, winning work, delivering impactful projects, developing people, growing a team and delivering on sales goals (within which you will have a say). You will be responsible for planning, innovation, project delivery quality as well as developing a team. It is both an exciting and important time to join the firm as the climate emergency continues and our company continues to grow.
