At Arthian, we lead the design of specialist buildings in high hazard, industrial environments. This typically includes blast resistance, toxic hazards and thermal hazard requirements. This role requires a design leader with exceptional managerial skills in buildings projects, combined with strong people skills and a proven ability to deliver buildings projects.
The Role
- You will be leading the delivery of multi-disciplinary buildings projects from concept to detailed design.
- You will liaise with other internal and external discipline departments during tender / bid preparation.
- You will lead the development of project proposals and tender submissions.
- You will manage the design process for industrial buildings, ensuring compliance with current codes and standards.
- You will be responsible for commercial management of our deliverables.
- You will be responsible for programme, resourcing and quality compliance.
- You will manage key client relationships.
- You will support the development of junior staff.
- You will play a key role in design risk management and mitigation.
- You will work with Directors, Business Development and Marketing teams to develop business opportunities with new and existing clients.
- You will meet clients to define scopes of work and develop proposals.
Qualifications
- You hold a BEng, MEng or MSc qualified in Civil / Structural Engineering.
- You will have significant experience in an engineering consultancy, or in a similar role, and be chartered with IStructE or ICE. Alternative relevant professional qualifications will be considered.
Experience & Skills
- Experience in the management and delivery of building designs. Experience within industrial environments such as oil & gas, petrochemical, energy, manufacturing or defence would be beneficial.
- You will have experience in managing design projects to the RIBA stage process.
- You will be experienced in the commercial delivery of design projects and management of 3rd party suppliers.
- You will have a breadth of knowledge of all building related disciplines and how they contribute to technical delivery of the project i.e. Architecture, Civil & Structural, Building Services, Planning, Fire Engineering, etc.
- You will have experience in the CDM 2015 Regulations. Experience as carrying out the role of Principal Designer would be beneficial.
- You will be comfortable and experienced in meeting clients and scoping projects.
- You will have experience / understanding of all stages of the design and construction process.
- Competent with Microsoft Office.
- Good written and spoken English.
- Good verbal communication.
- Good interpersonal skills.
- Full UK driving licence and the ability to attend client sites, as required.
